What does a replacement car key quote need?
The right information helps distinguish a simple spare from an all-keys-lost job and makes it easier to compare what a quote actually includes.

What you need to know
- Registration, location and the number of working keys matter.
- Ask what the price includes: key, cutting, programming and attendance.
- A quote lets you discuss the job before arranging the visit.
The car and the key both matter
Begin with the registration and confirm the make, model and year. Say whether the vehicle has a conventional ignition or a start button. A photo of an existing key can be useful, but shape alone does not establish compatibility. Changes between vehicle generations, key systems and individual specifications mean that a quote based only on a brand name can be incomplete.
How many working keys remain?
This is one of the most useful details. A spare made while another key still works is a different request from losing every key. Explain whether each key opens the car and starts the engine, rather than counting any old casing or remote as a working key. If the car is locked and no key is available, access may also need to be considered.
Explain what happened
For a damaged or unreliable key, include the symptoms and recent history. Did the blade snap, the case break or the remote stop responding after a drop? Does a second key work normally? Has the vehicle recently had battery or electrical work? A repair or further assessment may be more appropriate than assuming the whole key must be replaced. Short, specific details usually help more than a long description of possible diagnoses.
Compare the scope, not just the number
Ask whether the quote covers the supplied key, blade cutting, necessary programming, mobile attendance and any access or repair work. If you already bought a key, tell Sebastian before the quote is confirmed; it may be unsuitable or require a different arrangement. A blade-cutting price cannot be compared directly with a complete remote key ready to use. Equally, no universal price should be assumed for every vehicle.
Use the quote to organise the next step
Include the vehicle’s location and whether help is needed now, today or tomorrow, or at a flexible time. Sebastian can then review compatibility and availability together. You can ask a question by WhatsApp after receiving the quote and agree the visit through the conversation. Online booking is optional when offered. Keeping the request and response together also means you do not need to repeat the same vehicle details in several calls.
Let’s get the next step sorted.
