Locked keys in the car? What to do next
Work out whether you need access, a replacement key or help with a failed remote. A few clear details make the first conversation more useful.

What you need to know
- Say whether the key is inside the car or missing.
- Send the actual vehicle location, including car park access.
- Call during working hours if you need urgent availability.
1. Check the situation without forcing entry
First establish where the key is likely to be: on a seat, in the boot or genuinely missing. Check whether a normal door or boot opening is still available, without forcing anything. If you have a spare, ask whether someone can bring it. If a child, vulnerable person or animal is at immediate risk, contact emergency services; do not wait for an ordinary locksmith appointment.
2. Separate access from a key problem
If the key is safely inside and usable, the request may be about access. If all keys are missing, making a working key is a separate requirement. A remote that does not unlock can also look like a lockout, even though you still have the key. Describe what happens instead of choosing a diagnosis. Refer to your vehicle handbook for the manufacturer’s normal emergency-access instructions; arrangements differ between models.
3. Avoid improvised entry attempts
Forcing the door frame, inserting unsuitable objects beside the glass or trying to break into the lock can cause additional damage. It may also make the eventual job harder to assess. Tell the locksmith if anyone has already attempted entry or if a lock or window was damaged beforehand. There is no need to dismantle trim or expose vehicle security components just to request help.
4. Share the location of the car
Use the actual vehicle location, not your home address if you are elsewhere. Add the car park name, entrance, level and restrictions where relevant. A pin helps in a large site, but include a brief description too. When you call, have the registration ready and explain whether the key is in the cabin or boot. If you are authorised to use a company or family vehicle, say that; identification or authority may need checking.
5. Choose the next step
For urgent help during working hours, call Sebastian to check availability. If you can wait and need help today or tomorrow, send a short WhatsApp message so the registration and location remain with the conversation. You can also request a quote for a non-urgent access problem. A submitted form is not confirmation that someone is on the way. Once the situation and price are clear, arrange the visit by phone or message; online booking is optional.
Let’s get the next step sorted.
Send the vehicle details, or call if you need help now.
